Envy

I thought I’d start the new year with a wordy post for once.

I’ve spoken to a couple of people recently and some of their sentiments and thoughts echoed some of mine so I thought this might be a vaguely common thing worth writing about.

The kink community is actually a small one. We know a lot of each other and even if not directly, we’ve often played with a mutual acquaintance. We’re also narcissistic creatures that like to post and tweet about our adventures (not that this is a bad thing of itself!) and it’s difficult not to get caught in a cycle of garnering reblogs and favourites.

One of my friends spoke about “sub envy” but I think it works both ways. I as a sub have definitely felt pangs of jealousy when I see people playing with tops I like. Conversely when I’m topping and I see a favourite sub off having fun with someone else it’s difficult to stop my mind occasionally going “but they’re mine!”.

Here’s the important thing: those that are free spirits are absolutely that and we should take pleasure from their joy and experiences with others; the next time we play with them we can learn from that too.

So the next time you feel a little pang of envy, use that energy for good. If it’s a top you really want to play with, take that scene you’ve just loved as an opener. If you’ve seen a cute little sub you’d love to wrap in rope then let them know. BUT don’t be creepy and don’t be offended if you get a polite knock-back: I’m not providing topping-as-a-service – there has to be some kind of connection with the people I play with. That doesn’t mean you have to be a twinky blond 18 year old (but you know, if you are…) – brains and experience are just as sexy.

Regulation Trisuit

Because I’m a sucker for anything shiny and on sale, I picked up this lovely blue and orange trisuit from Regulation* recently. I know I don’t have the athlete’s body to really show it off, but @emsedonyk really loves to look at my slightly furry chest in it, so that’s good.

Oakleigh

A very fun-filled weekend with pupoakleigh crammed in lots of things – rubber bondage, fisting, pup play and sounding amongst lots of other awesome stuff.

TotalRunt

It’s always fun to find someone young, cute, and with a rubber wardrobe to rival your own – but to come across them by chance in a dark dungeon is quite rare. We invited TotalRunt back to our own playroom for another round.

There’s also a video of him strapped to the bondage chair finding it very frustrating going up against the Venus milking machine. (Sorry, I’m not much of a videographer.)

A visit to Carrara

I recently had the culmination of many years’ dreaming which was to visit Carrara Designs and get my own custom-made chastity belt. I thought it would be fun to visit in person, to see how things got made, and to make sure everything was properly sized.

I wasn’t disappointed!

Walter Goethals was a fantastic host and showed us around the workshop, where I could see my belt already starting to take shape. I really loved the polishing machine where the components were going to spend the night coming up to a brilliant shine.

After the tour I got measured then arranged to pop back the next evening to pick up the finished belt. That next day, there was some final fitting of the steel cable and moulding of the belt to me, then I was all inescapably locked up.

It is definitely the most secure device I’ve ever worn, and once I get used to it, I’m pretty sure it’ll be very comfortable for long term wear too. It certainly looks great over rubber!

Homebrew bondage chair

A quick post about our new bondage chair, because I’m quite proud of it.

It’s inspired by the fetters ladder-back chair* (which is a lovely bit of kit) but we didn’t have space for it unless we were to get rid of the cage – but every playroom has to have a cage. We used bits of tube clamp, that the rest of the playspace is made out of, to make up the frame of the chair. The two seat pads are wood boards (actually offcuts of kitchen worktop!) covered in upholstery foam and faux leather. They’re fixed with M10 carriage bolts onto a tube clamp bracket. The backrest is simply some 42mm pipe insulation slipped over the tube.

The only bit not home made are the leather straps – they’re custom made by the lovely folks at Regulation*.

Latex Catfish Review

Latex Catfish are a Chinese maker of latex gear and have been around for a couple of years. Their major selling point is the relative cheapness of their wares and that they have some fairly unusual designs like rubber Dianese motorcycle suits and cosplay gear.

I’ve always been loyal to my tried and tested rubber-makers like STR and Regulation* but thought I’d do a test purchase from Latex Catfish and compare them to the traditional players. I chose a fairly standard pattern but in unusual colours for fun and plumped for a long catsuit, without sleeves, and a codpiece.

Ordering was pretty straightforward, payment via Paypal upfront. Latex Catfish have such a huge number of designs it can be quite difficult to find what you want, but I guess that’s a good thing!

Delivery took just over 6 weeks – the majority of this was in production time, actual shipping from Hong Kong was pretty swift. I’d ordered around Chinese New Year which meant things took a little longer, although in practice I’ve waited a similar amount of time from STR before now as well (Regulation tend to supply items very quickly in standard sizes).

So onto the fit: this was an off-the-peg XS in 0.4mm latex which should give a fairly stretchy and tactile feeling. The shape isn’t at all bad – the only location that doesn’t fit so great is across the shoulders, but I often struggle with standard patterns in this area so it’s not unsurprising.

The seams aren’t too bad, although there’s a lot of glue left on the inside surfaces:

Compare the seam quality to one of my STR suits and it’s clear STR are considerably better:

Part of my thinking about buying a codpiece option was that it would demonstrate another part of the latex maker’s art and would probably be the place to show up any weaknesses if there are any. The actual popper hardware seems reasonably OK (and the zip is YKK branded) but I’d have like to have seen more reinforcement on the inside like STR use:

The colour itself is not quite as vibrant out of the box as I’d hope it would be from the pictures but I think this is partly down to it being talced and not shined (you can choose from pre-polished and chlorination options too).

The major selling point is of course down to price and whilst I’d argue the build quality is not directly comparable, I specced-up a similarly patterned suit and options from STR. Latex Catfish comes in at £70 (excluding shipping which adds roughly another £20) whereas STR is £220.

In conclusion then, whilst STR have the edge in build quality and fit, Latex Catfish can deliver something appropriate to the price. It does mean that you can chose something more adventurous or wear something out to play without constantly worrying about damage.

For a great basic suit I’d still go to STR, but will I be buying from Latex Catfish again? Yep.

Rubber urinals

I was lucky enough to have two rubber urinals on tap recently, but I do think I need a new piss delivery system*.

Throwback Thursday

I have very fond memories of this as it was one of my first pup play sessions (so long ago it was before puppy play was A Thing). Of course there was some bondage involved and here I’m being taught to ‘display’ – the muzzle-to-balls predicament was great and is something I’ve tried to replicate from time to time but nothing seems to work as well as this first time.

Sadly I’ve lost touch with Mutt and his wonderful playroom :(
